Next Chapter Book Club: Meet n' Greet

  • Jesup Memorial Library 34 Mt. Desert Street Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 (map)

At the Next Chapter Book Club (NCBC), adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities read and learn, make friends, and enjoy a fun community gathering place. The Jesup Library is organizing a chapter of the NCBC for our community. To start the book club, we are looking for 4 to 8 book club members who are able to meet weekly at the library. If you are interested, please join us on Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30pm for an initial Meet n’ Greet in the Poteet Gallery. Get to know the group facilitators and other book club members, see the space where the book club will be held, and tell us about your favorite books!

If you are interested in joining the NCBC but are unable to attend, please contact Eloise at eschultz@jesuplibrary.org, by calling 207-288-4245 or by inquiring at the circulation desk.

How does it work?

Members meet weekly for one hour to read and discuss a book of their choosing.

Who can attend?

Anyone can participate, no matter their reading level or ability. Caregivers and communication partners are also welcome to attend.

Who leads the book club?

Trained volunteers facilitate each meeting. They can include students, parents, retirees, people with disabilities, and various community members.

How can I join?

On Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30pm, we will have a Meet n’ Greet for the NCBC in the library’s Poteet Gallery. Meet the group facilitators and other Book Club members! After this meeting, we will determine the date for our regular meeting. If you are unable to attend the Meet n’ Greet, please contact Eloise at eschultz@jesuplibrary.org, 207-288-4245, or by visiting the library.
