The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) celebrates the 50th annual Common Ground Country Fair this year, with a number of events including Fifty Years of Common Ground, an exhibition of five decades of the posters of the Common Ground Country Fair. After being exhibited at the Maine State House and at Waterville Creates, the exhibition is coming to the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor from October 5th to January 2th, 2027. A full-color catalog will accompany the exhibition.

Since 1977, the fair has been more than an annual event; it has been a gathering place rooted in organic agriculture, food justice, environmental stewardship, and the belief that communities can shape healthier futures together. The fair’s posters are among the most visible and enduring expressions of that collaborative work. Seen together, they offer a visual and cultural history of Maine’s organic movement and the shared values that have guided it. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Maeve O'Regan is the Creative Director and Designer behind MOFGA's Fifty Years of Common Ground exhibitions at the State House Gallery in the Capitol, the Ticonic Gallery at Waterville Creates, and the Jesup Memorial Library, as well as the accompanying publication. Her collaborations include public history projects and fine art publications for artists and organizations in the U.S. and Europe. Here in Maine, she also uses her design skills to support local farmers and food producers. She is co-director of Interloc, an interdisciplinary art space in Thomaston.
